Students' Learning Interest in the Materials of Systems and Dynamics of Democracy

Abstract

Conceptually, the teacher's role in the learning process includes many things, including as a model, class manager, mediator, communication, facilitator and evaluator. However, now teachers are only understood as teaching staff. Meanwhile, other roles seem to have been dumped. Excessive government intervention in education has also exacerbated this condition. For example, the demand to teach according to the applicable curriculum targets. This will result in interests, talents developing optimally without the help of teachers. The phenomenon of teachers' lack of understanding of their roles needs attention in the Indonesian education system in general and plays a role in the national education system. Moreover, Civics teachers who in this case are teachers who are still trusted by the community are able to provide a basis for life and moral values so that their children are not easily dragged into the flow of globalization. This has also resulted in a shift in the role of teachers. In the past, the teacher only acted as a person who taught, tutored, and was a versatile being. So now it has to shift, the role of the teacher becomes a person who provides more motivation, inspiration, facilities and dialogue partner for students. Roles like this should be paid more attention, especially to students who experience complexity. Teachers are now required to be more advanced, smarter, understand the times and be aware of the emergence of new things. In learning, Civics teachers often apply various methods, which are in accordance with the material and abilities of students, also provide motivation to students during learning, and provide evaluation at the end of learning. This shows that the teacher performs his role, namely as a teacher, class manager, motivator, and evaluator.Based on this statement, the authors are interested in conducting research on the role of Civics Teachers in Increasing Student Interest in the Materials of Systems and Dynamics of Pancasila Democracy in class XI MIA - 2 SMA Negeri 1 Paranginan, Paranginan District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency.
