Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) The urgency of strengthening digital ethics in students through Civics subjects, (2) Application of strengthening digital ethics for students of SMK Dharma Bakti Walter Manalu Siborongborong in Civics learning, (3) Barriers and solutions to the application of strengthening students' digital ethics SMK Dharma Bakti Walter Manalu Siborongborong. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data used are informants, events, and documents. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and document analysis. The validity of the data obtained by data triangulation and method triangulation. Data analysis uses interactive analysis, namely preparation, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research procedure consists of the preparation stage, the data collection stage, the data analysis stage, and the research report preparation stage. The results of the study show that (1) Citizenship Education is quite important to be able to accommodate the vision of citizenship in the era of digital citizenship by preparing students to have economic competition, complex work productivity, globalization security, and the development of internet media which are very crucial for the sustainability of democracy. (2) Strengthening digital ethics to tackle the spread of hoaxes by students of SMK Dharma Bakti Walter Manalu Siborongborong through Civics is carried out in three stages, namely planning, implementation, and learning evaluation. In the learning planning stage, digital ethical values ​​are integrated or inserted into the syllabus and lesson plans. In the implementation stage of learning, teachers strengthen digital ethics for students through learning using varied methods, literacy movements, and school programs such as cyber classes, e-learning, digital and online classes. At the evaluation stage, Civics teachers conduct evaluations related to strengthening digital ethics in students in tackling the spread with affective evaluation. (3) Barriers to strengthening digital ethics are student abilities, socioeconomic status, teacher skills, and the environment. While the solution is value internalization, mutual learning, and continuity and intensity of character cultivation
